Welcome back, Snowy Wings fans!
Today we’re bringing you an exclusive interview from Dorothy Dreyer, author of PHOENIX DESCENDING (November 2017)
1.) Did you make a New Year’s Resolution?
Yes. With the craziness of the world in its current state, I resolve to spend more quality time with my family.
2.) What would one of your character’s resolutions be?
The main character in my forthcoming PHOENIX DESCENDING fantasy novel is Tori Kagari. I think her main resolution would be to save her family from the fatal phoenix fever that is plaguing her world. She’s already lost one family member to the sickness; it’s her goal to make sure she doesn’t lose anyone else. Even if that means making a deal with the wrong people to get the cure.
3.) If you could assign any resolution to that character that you think would help them, what would it be?
I would tell Tori to think things through before making rash decisions. She needs to learn that not everyone can be trusted.
4.) How did you celebrate New Year’s?
We cooked tons of food, played games, and then just before midnight we went out to shoot off fireworks (legal in Germany).
5.) Would your character be happy having a big party to celebrate or would they prefer a small gathering of close friends?
Tori would be most comfortable with her immediate family.
6.) January tends to be a cold month, are you a fan of cold or warm weather?
I’m a fan of spring and fall. I enjoy summer if it’s not too hot, though if I’m near a pool then it’s all good. I like snow, and I have two Siberian Huskies that enjoy a snowy romp, but I hate below freezing winds.
7.) When it’s colder out, where is your favorite place to write?
I usually write at my desk, no matter what the weather, with a cup of coffee and a snack of some sort near the computer. I have publicly admitted to eating an entire jar of peanut butter while drafting a novel. But there are times where I’m happy to sit on the couch or in my bed, snuggled in a blanket, and jotting down scenes in a notebook that I would later type up.
8.) January is a time of new beginnings…are you beginning anything?
Writing-wise, this is my busiest year. I have four projects I’m currently working on, and two projects are waiting for me in the wings. Three of those projects are new beginnings.
9.) What is one thing you are looking forward to in January?
Something tells me 2017 is going to be a great year. With that, I’m happy to get started, and I hope January proves to be a great beginning.
10.) What is your wish for the SWP readers this January?
I wish for SWP readers to find the story they can connect with, something that resonates with them and holds a place in their heart. Above that, I wish for health, happiness, and peace, for all.
Thanks so much to Dorothy Dreyer for joining us this month to chat about her New Years plans, the cold weather, and her wish for our readers. We can’t wait to have you back!
Until then,
Thanks for joining us at SWP, where we’re taking the book world by storm!
